At KYS, our dedicated teams are the foundation of our success. We believe in cultivating strong partnerships with our staff and management to foster a culture of collaboration and continuous growth.

Our teams work tirelessly to build positive relationships, taking pride in their unwavering commitment to supporting children in developing their self-esteem and reaching their full potential. We recognise that our success is directly tied to the quality of our teams and their exceptional work.

Empowering Our Teams

At KYS, we are dedicated to empowering our teams through comprehensive training and development opportunities. By promoting compassion and resilience, we equip our staff with the tools they need to handle challenging circumstances effectively.

Our team members are trained in recognising and responding to trauma, with a special focus on employing psychological approaches and Trauma Informed Support. We prioritise effective communication and appropriate responses to behaviours, ensuring that each individual receives the personalised support they need.

Moreover, our staff is well-versed in identifying indicators of criminal exploitation and cuckooing, allowing them to provide essential support and ensure the safety and well-being of the young people in our care. Through our commitment to empowering our teams, KYS continues to deliver exceptional care, making a meaningful difference in the lives of the children and young people we serve.

Empowering Our Teams Through Bespoke Training

At KYS, investing in the growth and development of our staff is at the core of our mission. We believe that by providing comprehensive training and support, we can equip our teams with the tools they need to deliver the highest quality care to the young individuals in our services.

Your journey with KYS begins with an internal induction, where you will be introduced to our organisation’s values and practices, as well as the homes and individuals in our care. As you progress, you’ll participate in a further week-long induction, during which you’ll gain essential skills and knowledge, including First Aid at Work, Level 3 Safeguarding, Fire Safety, and more.

We also offer an extensive E-learning Library, allowing you to continue your professional development throughout your career with KYS. Upon successful completion of your probationary period, you’ll be enrolled in a Level 3 NVQ Residential Childcare qualification, with the potential to progress to the Level 5 Leadership and Management in Residential Childcare.

CPI Positive Behaviour Support

At KYS, we are dedicated to actively reducing restraint across all our services, setting high standards as a leading care provider. We are proud members of the Restraint Reduction Network, pledging to:

  • Provide a transparent commitment to minimising the use of coercive and restrictive practices, while preventing misuse and abuse of restraint.
  • Collaborate with our teams to create restraint-free services, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Develop an annual “restraint reduction plan” outlining organisational approaches to help us achieve the Network’s vision, mission, values, and principles.

To fulfil this pledge, we have adopted CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as our training approach. This program empowers our staff to create safe and trauma-informed environments for the individuals in our care. We are committed to protecting vulnerable individuals from traumatising experiences and ensuring their safety and comfort.

In addition to CPI training, our mandatory training program includes Safeguarding, First Aid, Fire Safety, Food Safety, Health and Safety, Administration of Medicines, Mental Capacity Act, Policies, and Practices within services. We also offer bespoke and additional training to cater to the unique needs of our teams and the individuals they support.
